Setting up card payments on pay as you go

You can top up your phone by setting up direct card payments by logging in to EE, by text, by phone or in a shop. You can also top up someone else's phone online.

Set up direct card payments

The simple way to pay just got even better. You can now get 10% off any pack, any time, and there’s no need to remember to top up to get your pack. Set up direct card payments and your pack will renew automatically – for less!

You can pay with Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards. These are not Direct Debits. If you want to change or cancel your payments you can do so whenever you like, and we’ll keep you informed about upcoming payments or if you need to do anything else.

Setting up direct card payments is easy – just follow these steps:

  1. Download the EE App or go to ee.co.uk
  2. Select Set Up Direct Card Payments. You can also choose a pack here, if you don't already have one.
  3. Choose an already registered card or register a new card.
  4. Make your first payment and start using your device.

Payments are managed by Vesta, our payment partner, and on your bank or credit card statement it'll appear as Vesta EE Top Up along with a free 0808 free helpline number.

If you already have a card registered

If you have already registered a payment card to your account, you can:

  • text ALL PACKS to 150
  • call 150 from your EE phone

Differences between direct card payments and paying with a card

A direct card payment is the simpler way to pay, such a payment will directly purchase your chosen pack (you can change this pack at any time). With direct card payments, you will also get a 10% discount off any of our new range of packs each time you buy this way.

Paying with a card or a recurring card payment means a chosen amount will be taken from your card and added to your available credit each month. This credit can then be used to buy packs or add-ons. No pack discount is given for recurring card payments.

Both of these payment methods can be changed or cancelled at any time and they are not Direct Debits.

Charges for card payments

There are no charges for any type of card payment and using card payments won’t cost any more than buying packs or add-ons from your top-up credit.

However, when you pay with a credit or debit card, you'll need to have sufficient funds available. If you don’t, your bank or credit card provider may charge you.

Will I lose my Free Boosts or Data Rollover if I set up card payments?

No, the good news is that you’ll keep your all Free Boosts and any Data Rollover from previous pay as you go packs if you switch to card payments.

Is this a contract or a Direct Debit?

It’s neither and you can cancel your card payment arrangement at any time.

Changing your pay you as go pack

You can easily change your pay as you go pack. Just buy a new pack online or in the app and it'll start when your current pack ends. Or to start your new pack right away:

  • open the EE App or go to ee.co.uk and select choose a new pack.
  • text NOW to 150 to start your new pack immediately

What happens if my payment card expires?

If you’re paying for your pay as you go pack with card payments, we’ll text you a reminder shortly before your payment card expires and another when it expires.

You can easily manage your payment cards when you're logged into EE. You can change the expiry date, remove a card or check what credit or debit cards you have saved.

What if my allowances run out before my pack renews?

If you use all your allowances (data, minutes or texts) before your pay as you go pack renews, you can buy a new pay as you go pack to start immediately:

  • open the EE app or go to ee.co.uk and select choose a new pack
  • text NOW to 150 to start your new pack immediately

If you’ve run out of one type of allowance, such as data, you can buy an add-on:

  • log in to ee.co.uk or the EE app to view available add-ons

Cancelling your pay as you go pack

You can cancel your pay as you go pack at any time:

  • open the EE app or go to ee.co.uk
  • call 150 from your EE phone and use our automated service

How to stop or cancel a card payment

  • log in to ee.co.uk or the EE app to cancel your pack or remove the payment card
  • text STOP PACK to 150
  • call 150 from your EE phone and use our automated service

Getting a refund

You’ll have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of your first purchase with your card to let us know that you don’t want to pay for a pack or add-on using this method.

We’ll then cancel any packs or add-ons you’ve requested via card payment, but you’ll still have to pay for any services used during your cooling-off period. If you change your mind about a pack or add-on you bought after the cooling-off period give us a call on 150 from your EE phone.
